Welcome, here you will find all my notes on the rebuild of the 68 Stang.

Photo pages will be updated as we progress in the build.

01/13/05 As you can see by the images the car is in Bad shape but with a

Little help and some funds it can be saved. The front frame assy is

Shot so we have now removed the front clip and firewall waiting on

Replacement parts now.

The body will be going to sandblast soon and will return rust free and the

I’ll start the rebuild. More updates to follow..

Update: 01/16/05

Stopped down to CJ Pony Parts yesterday, needless to say I was very

Disappointed with their service. Let me explain, I was looking for a Complete

Firewall for the Mustang called them on Monday and by later in the afternoon

They had called me back and found me a used “Complete” firewall just

Like I had asked for. So my wife and I ( Chrissy ) made the ride down to

Harrisburg Pa. 2.5 hours each way. Arrived and meet with Jason about this

Complete firewall, he took us in back to the warehouse and there was a

Firewall? They cut the center out of a used rusted firewall, What am I going

to do with that?? You hacked it all up; they used a cutting torch to remove

it from the body. No seams no flange no nothing but the center.. Then asked

me if I still wanted it !!!!! I laughed and walked away from the scrap metal.

So now what well plan B, Well I picked up the new top cowl repair parts and

The new side cowl panels along with the Firewall patch panels. Now I also

Needed the floor to firewall extension panels to help make up this firewall.

Well in stock they had 1 side panel, No firewall patch panels so 5 out

Of 8 panels they had. But wait it gets better. On Saturday before this

I had called and talked with Matt about some other parts and explained

That I will be spending big bucks to rebuild this Mustang is there anyway

That CJ’s could give me a discount, he said sure we could do a body shop

Discount. Monday when I called about the firewall I also asked again about

this and she said no problem. Well after we get all the parts together and I ask

about this discount Jason says hang on need to find out about this. Well a few

mins later the manager comes out and explains this is not normal

we only give discounts to body shops not private individuals. I said WHAT?

then why did these other folks say so?  No idea but that’s how we do it.

I said look I’m working on this Mustang and have a 65 right behind it that’s

in worse shape then this one and you will not give me a discount? Well ok but

you have to spend a certain figure per year!!! What ever just give me my parts

and I left. Maybe never to return again no matter how good their prices are.

  Anyway enough about that…

Body update as you can see by the updated images the new Cowl is in now I’m

just waiting on the other panels, lets hope they get here this week like promised.

If you need to replace these parts you leave open the end by the fender or the

water will not drain out and you will end up with the same problem, I’ll have a

photo of what I’m talking about later with details. With this done and no other

panels to start other replacements time to move on.

I’m now working on the floor pans and they seem to be going ok for now.
